Background
Young Wesley’s RFC was established in 1952 in a small mission station town called Klipfontein Mission Station (Die Bos). This area, once a vibrant community, was largely owned by private families. The original rugby field was located within the heart of the neighbourhood, surrounded by the community itself. However, when authorities needed to upgrade road infrastructure, the field was relocated to Barnes Camp — a space erected on what was once a dumping site. Today, this remains the only sports facility within the community. It’s more than just a field — it’s a beacon of hope. In the face of ongoing social challenges, we hold onto rugby as a vehicle for unity, pride, and resilience. The club currently supports junior players aged 8 to 16, as well as a committed senior team. Despite poor lighting and persistent infrastructure issues, our players continue to show up and train, even in the dark. We remain committed to growing the sport and keeping the spirit of rugby alive in our community.
