Challenger Cup Finalists 2024
Participate in the CIty League under the WP Rugby Union
Has been in existence since 1973
Has 3 Teams and U/18 as well in the process os establishing a Women Team
Hosted the biggest Black Easter Tournament in Khayelitsha on 18- 1 April 2025 (24 Clubs, 8 Female Clubs, 8 U/18 Clubs)- 40 participating teams
Our current Deputy President served in the WP Professional Rugby Board
Our success and achievements: Won the league 1984 – 1989 in succession, Unbeaten record for 2005 season, 2006 accepted on probation by Western Province under division six and qualified to play under formal structures for 2007 season.
Background
Young Ideas Rugby Football Club is based in Langa, Western Cape Province, in South Africa. We have 130 Senior players,110 junior players and 22 under 10 players. We have a sound financial and marketing strategy. Our competitive advantage is the streamlined development program. The program identifies, develops and sustains growth of the club and the players. The club has a mass
participation concept and we involve the community at all levels. The club is also a key participant in the School Rugby program. YIRFC was established 1973. Our primary objective is to serve the communities in and around Cape, provides an opportunity to get involved in Rugby sport. Our Executive team consists of a variety of former Rugby players, sport expects and ordinary members of the public. With one of the them having recently served on the WP Professional Rugby Board
