Achievements

We are one of the oldest clubs in the country. (123 years)

Our club has a rich history dating back to 1903, with an impressive record of achievements. In the early 1980s, we won the knockout cup against Gardens, with legends such as Nico Blaauw, Donny Fredericks and the late Gavin Kulsen.

We have also had players who achieved provincial honours, including Aaron Pietersen (WP League), Cedric van Wyk, Jerome Pietersen (1988), Rashied Isaac (1988 and 1989) (Craven Week).

Several players who represented WP Disa, such as Eugene Herklaas, Chesley Theo, Clive Arendse, and Alrich Erasmus.

Violets Rugby Club proudly records that Arthur Hanekom and Aubrey Anderson were members of the team that captured the prestigious Shield Tournament title in a memorable championship year, contributing significantly to the club’s proud rugby heritage.

Violets Rugby Club launched a development programme in 2022 in partnership with Allandale Correctional Services. Under the dedicated leadership of Ms Williams, the Allandale prison team has to date delivered strong performances in league matches, reflecting the success and positive impact of this initiative. The programme also provides a meaningful opportunity for the families of inmates to watch their loved ones play outside the prison walls, fostering reconnection and support.
