The Van der Stel Evergreens Rugby Club was established in 2017 through the amalgamation of two historic rugby clubs — Van der Stel Rugby Club (founded in 1918) and Evergreens Rugby Club (founded in 1914), both originally based in Vlottenburg, Stellenbosch. This unification aimed to preserve and continue the proud traditions of both clubs while creating a strong, inclusive rugby club that serves the entire Stellenbosch rugby community. The club is committed to transformation and the development of less privileged players at both senior and junior levels, ensuring growth both on and off the field.
