The club was founded in 1937 by scholars and teachers from Athlone Teachers College, Paarl.

Initially, the club competed in Paarl under the local board and later joined the Paarl League.

In 1976, the club moved to the Wellington Rugby Union (Boland – SARU).

In 1978, it became a founding member of the Paarl Rugby Union and competed under the Boland Rugby Union until rugby unification in the 1990s.

Following unification, the club began competing under the Western Province Rugby Union banner.
