Background
The club was founded as Somerset West Rugby Club in 1904. In 1997, it amalgamated with Gordons Bay Rugby Club to form the Helderberg Rugby Football Club.
The club has produced 23 Springboks, three of whom served as Springbok captains: Boy Morkel, Phil Mostert, and Steven Fry. The club has won the Grand Challenge Trophy six times and has produced 102 Western Province players.
Currently, the club fields four senior teams and is striving to register two junior teams. Our infrastructure includes a modern clubhouse, businessmen’s lounge, large pavilion, restaurant, pizzeria, and a brand-new, state-of-the-art community hall.
The club is presently managed in a highly professional manner by a trust, a board of directors, and various sub-committees.
We currently compete in Super League A and continuously strive to be recognized as the leading rugby club in Western Province, both on and off the field.
