Franschhoek Rugby Football Club (RFC), rooted in the historic town of Franschhoek, Western Cape, carries a rich legacy of passion, perseverance, and progress in community rugby. The club is a product of decades of local rugby heritage, uniting past rivalries and nurturing talent from the grassroots level to national recognition.

Historical Background
In the late 1980s, Franschhoek's rugby scene was vibrant, with four community-based clubs:
· Oaks and Progress from Groendal
· Mountain Rocks and Tigers from the surrounding farmlands

During the 1990s:
· Oaks and Progress merged to form Franschhoek United, competing in the former Superliga B.
· Mountain Rocks and Tigers consolidated under the name Mountain Rocks, advancing to the old Premier Liga B.

By 2003, a major unification occurred when Franschhoek United and Mountain Rocks combined to establish the present-day Franschhoek RFC. At the time of the merger, Mountain Rocks competed in a higher division (Superliga C), which became the foundation for the new united team.

League Participation
Franschhoek RFC has competed in various divisions under the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU), navigating through structural league changes over the years. From the old tiered system—Superliga A/B and Premier Liga A/B/C—to the updated Superliga A, B, and C format, the club has demonstrated consistent growth and resilience.
