Background
Club was established on 15 February 1951 due to Parow RFC (1912 – 1950) & Maitland RFC (1903 - 1950) merged together to form the club as Northern RFC. Today the name of the club is Connect NTK RFC (Connect Northern Tygerberg Klub).
The club is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2026. In total 23 Springboks & 11 Internationals has played for the club. Also a lot of Provincial players has played for the club and for a fast majority of provincial teams across South Africa.
Most famous Springboks to play for the club was Hennie Muller who also coached the 1st team after his playing days for over 20 years, Danie Gerber, Tiaan Strauss, Chester Williams and Corne Krige. The other Springboks are, Attie Baard, Colin Greenwood, Wynand Mans, Robert & Charlie Cockrell, Gert Kotze, Henning van Aswegen, Tommie Laubscher, Toks van der Linde, Joggie Viljoen, Charl Marais, Robert Markram, Vlok Cilliers, Johnny Trytsman, Werner Greeff, Henrich Fuls, Hottie Louw & Andries Bekker.
Joshua Strauss is one famous international that played for the club. The club jersey is a Crimson red jersey with a white collar inspired by the 1955 British & Irish Lions team that toured South Africa the club was so inspired by them that they changed the jerseys to the Lions jerseys and have been playing in this colours ever since. The club also has a youth structure from 0.7 till 0.19 and has started ladies rugby as well. The club currently plays in the Super B league of WPRFU.
Famous administrators: Hannes Pretorius – Former President of WP Rugby (Played 1st team for the club and was also a chairman for the club and a life member), Ronnie Masson – Former President of WP Rugby (Played 0.19, 0.20 & 1st team for the club in the 1950’s) , Francois Bonthuys – serving on the EXCO of WPRFU (Former player, 1st team coach, committee member, Chairman, President and a life member of the club). Gert Small & Hennie Bekker also coached at the club but did not play for the club.
