The club was founded on 24 March 1977. Miley Figeland was the club's first chairman. At the time, the club was affiliated with SARU under the banner of SACOS. Some of the club's players were selected for the West Coast Union team, which was affiliated with WP Platteland. In 1991, some players also represented the club in the Malmesbury and Districts Rugby Union team. Players such as Shannon Mahoney, who started at the club, later made the WP DISA team. Many players from the club were also selected for the Noordelikes Tygerberg U/21 and senior teams following unification. The club's most recent achievement was its promotion to Super League C three years ago. Atlantis Rugby Football Club RFC came about when players use to play on a gravel road within Mamre and players then broke away from Blue Bells RFC and formed the Club. Founding Members like Uncle Arrie Solomons, Miley Vigeland etc were instrumental in building a proud Community Rugby Club for the community of Atlantis. Our first home was at Wesfleur Sportsground where under Apartheid various teams have played and where it was an absolute privilege to play for the badge of Atlantis Rugby Football Club RFC. The following surnames were synonymous with Club in White, Navy Blue and Red; Solomons, Vigeland, Marthinus, Kastoor, Bezuidenhout, Korah etc.
